Meet Mr John Beharrell – Interhearing Senior Audiologist & Director
John Beharrell was born and raised in Shrewsbury and, after completing his BSc degree in Audiology, worked within the NHS for a number of years. In 2009, he became the founder and director of Interhearing, Shropshire’s first fully independent, family-run hearing care service.
John continued his studies, completing an MSc in one of his specialist areas, Tinnitus Rehabilitation. He combines strong academic expertise with over two decades of experience across both NHS and private practice.
With a growing number of studies linking untreated hearing loss with an increased risk of cognitive decline, dementia and social isolation, John is a strong advocate for addressing hearing loss at an early stage and encouraging regular hearing tests, which is why our over-60s hearing tests are completely free of charge and each of our hearing aid patients has access free aftercare and re-assessments at any of our Shrewsbury locations.
Mr Beharrell is passionate about ensuring that patients have genuine choice when it comes to their hearing healthcare. His aim is to help each patient find the most appropriate solution for their individual hearing needs, enabling them to communicate confidently and enjoy improved social and emotional wellbeing.
Outside of work, John is a family man and likes to keep healthy, fit and active. He especially enjoys cycling, camping and hiking. John takes an active role in his local community and has taken part in a number of events in aid of Severn Hospice, which is an ongoing family tradition.
